Happy ‘Free Meek’ Day! To Meek

April 24, 2018 is officially ‘Free Meek Day’ in America and hopefully marks the start of major, much needed, criminal justice reform. In this country of mandatory minimum sentences, rappers have historically suffered the greatest injustices in all of entertainment. It’s no coincidence they also traditionally represent the voices of oppress people.

Hip-hop started out in the park talking the pain of racial injustice and living on the edge of poverty through microphones that have now vibrated throughout the universe. The world has soaked up Hip-hop and sought to devour the voices of the streets from Tupac to Maino to Meek.

A helicopter lifted Meek Mills from the belly of hell on Tuesday, April 24th and the brother went straight to a NBA game. That’s right… Co-owner of the Philadelphia 76ers, Michael Rubn, scooped Meek to pull up at the game from prison. The Free Meek Mill campaign has concluded in the brother getting not only his freedom but a new chance to be our brother on the block reporting live from the center of rap.

Meek rung the opening bell and enjoyed the game courtside with his son in tow. KevinHip-hop need every dedicated voice it can get in the fight to bring light to those dark spaces on the planet that are overlooked on purpose and with purpose.

Who is ready for more Meek?
